Bethel Community Mourns Loss of Former Dean of Nursing

Former Dean of Nursing and Graduate Program Nursing Director Karon Schwartz, Ph.D., passed away Tuesday, April 8, at her home. She was 70 years old. Visitation will be Thursday, April 10 from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Eley Funeral Home in Centreville, Mich. The funeral service will be Friday, April 11 at 11 a.m. at Three Rivers Church of the Nazarene in Three Rivers, Mich.

Coach Mike Lightfoot Honored as Guardian of the Game at NCAA Final Four Event

Men’s Basketball Coach Mike Lightfoot will receive the Guardians of the Game Pillar award at the Final Four® AT&T Guardians of the Game Awards Show on Sunday, April 6 in Dallas, Texas. This event features and honors the top players and coaches in all of men’s college basketball. Lightfoot will be honored for becoming the 18th quickest coach in all of basketball to reach 700 career wins.

Bethel Launches Center for Customized Training

Bethel College announces the launch of its center for customized training, an initiative made possible by Lilly Grant funding received in November 2013. The center’s first partnership is with the Kroc Center in South Bend, Ind., where Bethel staff is providing weekly management training to directors, managers and officers.

Bethel Track Finishes 3rd and 6th at NCCAA Indoor Championships

The Bethel women earned a third place overall team finish out of 18 participating teams and the men finished sixth. Three individuals were crowned national champions in their events.

Men's Basketball Earns Back-to-Back Tournament Titles

The Bethel College men's basketball team defeated their arch nemesis in Grace College to capture the 2014 Crossroads League Tournament Championship 70-65 Tuesday night. The win is the second consecutive tournament championship for the Pilots and their 18th overall Crossroads League title.

Bethel Launches Career Services Center for Adult Students

Bethel College announces the launch of a career services office designed specifically to meet the needs of adult students. Development of the office is one of several initiatives resulting from the $900,000 Lilly Grant received by Bethel in November 2013.

Tom Visker, Ph.D., recently began his tenure as athletic director for the Bethel College Pilots, transitioning from his previous role as professor of kinesiology and dean of humanities and education.

Bethel Participates in Indiana’s Private College Week

Bethel College will be one of 31 schools participating in this year’s Indiana Private College Week, which will take place July 21-25. Bethel will host tours Monday through Friday at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.
