Alumnus Finds Success Playing Professional Basketball

It’s not the NBA, but William Walker is still living a pretty good life thanks to professional basketball.

After five years in Sweden, the 2009 Bethel College grad from Michigan City plans to ratchet up the competition level a bit by taking his game to Finland this season.

“Sweden has some good teams, but the league in Finland — top to bottom — has more competitive teams,” Walker said. “Last year, late in the season, teams 6-13 were all competitive for the eight playoff spots.

“The NBA is still a dream, like it is for anyone who plays professional basketball. But at my age (27), I’m looking for the kind of competition that’s going to make me a better player. I want to be challenged.”
