Microsoft Office 365 Transition


Free Office for Students

We’re in the process of making some great new additions to Information Technology at Bethel College and want to give you a heads up about a change to Bethel email that will be happening next week as part of the implementation.

Bethel College IT is pleased to announce that Microsoft Office 365 for Education will soon be available for all Bethel students! Your FREE subscription to this service will include:

  • 1 Terabyte of cloud storage for all of your docs and files on OneDrive for Business

  • Microsoft Office installation on up to five computers (Mac or PC)

  • Bethel email hosting with 50 Gigabytes of mailbox storage

  • Access to Office for iPad apps so you can work on the go

In order to implement Office 365 services, we will begin moving all Bethel College student mailboxes to the cloud on Friday, August 1. Throughout that weekend, there may be a brief window of time, no longer than an hour, where your Bethel email may be unavailable while your mailbox is transferred to the cloud. If you find yourself unable to log in to your Bethel email at any time during the transition period of August 1-3, please wait an hour, then try logging in again.

Below, you’ll find basic instructions for accessing each of the new Office 365 features that are coming your way. More in-depth tutorials will be posted on our website.

 

Bethel College Email
After the mailbox transition, Bethel College email will be accessed by visiting office365.bethelcollege.edu where you’ll find a fresh new look for your email.

 

Microsoft Office
To download and activate your free Microsoft Office software, follow these simple steps:

  1. Visit office.com/getoffice365

  2. Click through and enter your Bethel College email address and password

  3. On the download site, click install.

The software is available now and will be active for as long as you remain a Bethel student. You can even install your free Office on up to 5 computers (PC or Mac).

 

OneDrive for Business
Your terabyte of cloud storage (that’s 1,000 GB!) is just a few clicks away.

  1. Visit office365.bethelcollege.edu

  2. Login with your Bethel College email address and password

  3. Click on the “OneDrive” tab at the top of the page

OneDrive for Business will allow you to access your files wherever you have access to the web. The built-in Office Online apps will even let you edit your Word documents and other Office files from within your web browser.

Office for iPad
Not only can you save your Word documents and PowerPoint presentations to the cloud, you can also view and edit them from your iPad!

  1. Download any of the following free apps from the App Store: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote

  2. Sign in to the app using your Bethel College email address and password. (Note: If you have not already done so, you will first need to activate your account online by signing in at office365.bethelcollege.edu before you can sign in on your Office for iPad apps)

  3. Open and edit files saved in your OneDrive

We will be sending out more information soon about this transition and also offer some helpful resources.  In the resources section below is an introduction video you may view.  Please note Skydrive Pro is now called OneDrive for Business.  The News Feed and Sites will not be used by students.  We will continue to use My.BethelCollege.edu for this service.
