Financial Aid
How and When to Apply for Financial Aid
To apply for financial aid, the following steps must be completed:
- Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) prior to March 1. Be certain to include Bethel College, code #001787. Paper copies of the FAFSA are availble in the Financial Aid Office, or you can file on the FAFSA Online site.
- Returning students are required to complete a Bethel College Financial Aid Application.
- New students must apply for admission to the college. Your admission application will take the place of a Bethel College Financial Aid Application.
Approximately three to four weeks after you file the FAFSA, a report will be sent to the college evaluating your family's ability to pay for college expenses. From this report the college will determine your eligibility for financial assistance.
Financial aid is awarded to students on a first-come, first-served basis. Notification of financial aid eligibility will be mailed to you on or about the first week of May, provided all necessary information is received by the Financial Aid Office. The notification of financial aid eligibility must be reviewed and returned to the Financial Aid Office within two weeks of receipt. Failure to return this notification could result in the loss of eligibility of certain financial aid programs.
Enrollment Requirements
When determining your need for financial assistance, the college assumes you will be enrolled full time, unless otherwise noted on your financial aid application. Full-time enrollment is defined as enrollment of at least 12 credit hours each semester during the fall and spring semesters. The tuition pricing plan for full-time enrollment allows student to enroll in between 12 and 17 credit hours each semester for the same price. In order to maximize your financial aid, it is advisable to enroll for as many hours as possible up to the 17-hour limit.
