Baseball Advances In MCC Tournament With Sweep Of Grace

Game Summary
The Bethel College baseball team opened the MCC tournament with a sweep of the Lancers of Grace College on a rainy Monday afternoon in Mishawaka, Ind. The Pilots won both games by a score of 12-2.
Second baseman Cameron Branock led the way at the plate in game one with his 3-5 performance that included 3 RBI, two runs, and a triple. Other leaders were left-fielder Jon Rolon and catcher Walter Lehman. Rolon went 2-4 with a solo home run, and Lehman went 2-4 with a RBI and double. BC would go on to pound out 14 hits in the game.
On the mound Chad Emberton led the charge for his seventh win of the year. He pitched a complete game and only gave an earned run.
Game two had the same score and Bethel played just as well. Elliot Rowe picked up his sixth win of the year by pitching six innings, and only giving up an earned run. Rowe struck out seven while throwing five scoreless innings. The Lancers put their only two runs on the board in the sixth inning, but by then the Pilots were in control with a 10 run lead.
The lead was built by huge hitting performances from Tony Bruns and Jon Rolon. Bruns would come up in the bottom of the first and crush a three run homer. Bruns hit for the cycle as he went 4-4 with six RBI and two runs scored. Rolon would homer again and double as he ended the game with two RBI and two runs scored.
The Pilots stay alive in the MCC tournament as they will play again this Saturday, May 2nd. Bethel will await their opponent as it is yet to be determined.
