Baseball Signs Mishawaka's Cory Stoner

 

Cory Stoner has signed a National Letter of Intent to play baseball at Bethel College for the next four years. Stoner, a senior middle infielder for the Mishawaka Cavemen will join the Pilots and Head Coach Seth Zartman for the 2009-10 school year.
 
Stoner is a three year letter winner for the Cavemen starting every game but one at second base for the last two seasons. Last season Stoner batted .352 with eight doubles, two triples, and 22 RBI. Cory began his baseball career at Mishawaka by being named the “Rookie of the Year” in 2006 and looks to cap off a successful career as a Captain for the 2009 season.
 
Off the field, Stoner is a four-time Scholar Athlete and has been a member of the National Honor Society the past two years. Cory was on the National Honor Roll and will graduate in the top 15% of his class at Mishawaka High School.
 
“Cory is a great Bethel fit,” said Head Coach Seth Zartman. “He is an athletic kid that will bring flexibility to our lineup. I’m excited to see how we can use his versatility next season and beyond.”
 
Cory is the son of Kirby and Barb Stoner of Mishawaka, Ind.
