50th Anniversary Pilot Profiles - Randy Klotz
Bethel College Basketball will be profiling athletes from the past leading up to a celebration of the 50 years of Pilot Basketball this November
Playing in 84 games, Randy Klotz poured in 1,458 points and grabbed 726 rebounds in three years. He was twice named MVP in 1968-1969 and 1969-1970 and helped Bethel to appearances in the NCCAA National finals both seasons.
Klotz established a new scoring record with 624 points as a senior, a mark since broken by Weirich, Brown and Martinez. He was named to the NCCAA All District team after averaging 27 points in two 1969 playoff games.
A native of Etna Green Indian, Klotz was named to the Turkey Classic team and the Pilot Invitation squad in 1969-1970.
Klotz tossed in 35 points against Marion in a 1968-1969 game and was the second leading rebounder on the 1967-1968 team.
On a pace that would have shattered Walterhouse’s career scoring record, Klotz elected not to play in 1970-1971 because of a busy schedule.
