“We are excited for Tony to be back on the court. After a year I believe he has a better grasp of our system and can help us a great deal this year. He has the ability to defend the ball and can rebound. I like his maturity. He has a lot of experience that helps with the graduation loss of Kory as a defensive stopper. I am expecting Tony to have a great year. He can bring energy and athleticsm to the court, which we need this season.” -Coach Lightfoot
At Tri-State
In three seasons with the Tri-State (now Trine) University Thunder, Tony scored 1,178 career points, good for 21st all-time in Trine history. He averaged at least 18 points per game in the two consecutive seasons that he started playing at least 33 minutes per game.
He was named the Tri-State 6th Man Tournament MVP and earned a place on the All-Tournament Team. Tony also earned a place on the Marian College, RDV SportsPlex, and Defiance College All-Tournament Teams, respectively.
Tony was named a two-time First-Team All-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Conference team member, finishing runner-up in the MIAA Player of the Year voting both times.
He was also the first player from Tri-State to be voted to the First-Team All-MIAA since the conference made the switch from NAIA to NCAA DIII in 2002.
