Robbie Lightfoot

Robbie Lightfoot
Assistant Coach Men's Basketball

Robbie Lightfoot is no stranger to Bethel basketball.  The eldest son of head coach Mike Lightfoot and brother of junior guard Ryne Lightfoot, Robbie has grown up around Bethel and the men's basketball program.  Robbie has seen Bethel at its best and at its worst.  He was in the stands for all three of Bethel's NAIA National Championships in the 90's and was a player on the Pilots' 10-20 season.

"It's a great opportunity to be a part of Bethel basketball," says Robbie.  "Ever since I was young, I watched all the former Bethel greats play.  Those guys were my heroes and I had always dreamed of one day putting on a Bethel jersey for myself."

This season, Robbie makes the transition from the basketball court to the bench, after a one year hiatus away from Bethel.  Lightfoot, a four year letter winner for Bethel men's basketball, helped lead the team to an NCCAA National Championship in 2006-07, his senior season.

"It's been a fun experience now being on the sidelines as a coach and having the chance to be a part of Bethel basketball in a different way," states Robbie.  "I'm grateful for the opportunity and excited to learn more from such an experienced and veteran coaching staff."

After graduating from NorthWood High School in 2003, Robbie realized his dream of one day putting on a Bethel jersey when he signed to play for his father.  In four seasons, Robbie appeared in 115 games and scored 280 points while dishing out 170 assists, including a team-high 85 in 2005-06.

Robbie was the 2007 Martin Moneyheffer Mental Attitude Award winner for the Pilots, after suffering through an injury-plagued senior season while still managing to captain a team to a NCCAA National Championship.
