Several Student Athletes Sign With Cross Country And Track

Jordan Oloomi of South Side High School in Ft. Wayne, IN has committed to continuing his academic and athletic career at Bethel College beginning in the fall 2009. He will compete for the cross country and track teams, focusing on middle distance events in track. From his first visit to Bethel Jordan expressed excitement about joining our running programs and being a part of the college community.
 
At his signing Jordan was accompanied by his coaches and several teammates. With the opportunity to share, his coaches spoke about the depth of his character, work ethic on the course/track and in the classroom, and his leadership. These same elements are what made him an attractive recruit. They also speak to how well he fits with the mission and purpose of Bethel College athletics.
 
Jordan was a three year captain while at South Side High School. He also received Most Improved and Most Valuable Athlete awards. In addition, Jordan was a state qualifier as part of the 4 x 400 relay team. 
 
“Jordan’s excitement about attending Bethel College speaks to the growth of our programs”, said head cross country and assistant track coach Ryan Sommers. “We feel blessed to have someone with his character and leadership joining our team. He will make an immediate impact on our team.”
 
Brittany Fabris
 
Brittany Fabris of Richfield, OH, has committed to continuing her academic, cross country and track career at Bethel College beginning next fall. Brittany attended Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy of which several Bethel distance running alums have graduated. She is excited to be the next in line of that great tradition.
 
Brittany excels in the classroom as well as the course/track. As far as athletics, she was an integral part of Cuyahoga Valley’s State championship teams. They won the 2008 cross country and track team state championships. Brittany was also a member of their state champ women’s 4x800 relay team. Her championship experience will be a valuable asset to our women’s teams who have high aspirations the coming cross country and track seasons.
 
“We are excited that Brittany decided to join our teams,” stated head cross country and assistant track coach Ryan Sommers. “We look for her to make an immediate impact on both programs.”
 
Trisha Miller
 
Trisha Miller of Maquoketa, Iowa, has committed to continuing her academic, cross country and track career at Bethel College beginning next fall. She will be joining her sister who will be a junior next fall.
 
Trisha is a very competitive and energetic young lady with a heart for missions. She looks to make an immediate impact on our women’s cross country and track teams. Trisha is an 8-time state qualifier. She has finished in the top 5 at the state cross country meet the last three years culminating with a runner-up finish this past fall. In addition, she competed in the 3K finals at her state track meet each year finishing in the top 6 three of the four years.  
 
“Trisha’s excitement for Bethel College and our programs is contagious,” stated head cross country and assistant track coach Ryan Sommers. “We feel blessed that she chose Bethel. Her influence over the next four years will be fun to watch.”
 
With the Ohio State Track meet still to complete, Brittany has recorded personal bests of 2:22 for the 800m run, 5:39 for the 1600m run and 20:01 for the cross country 5K. She will add needed depth to the middle distance group at Bethel College. 

Nolan Dodge
 
Nolan Dodge of nearby Lake Station, IN has committed to continuing his academic, cross country and track career at Bethel College beginning next fall. He is the third of a growing freshman class to sign with cross country. 
 
Nolan has a strong work ethic which is evidenced by his academic achievements while being a three sport athlete while attending Thomas A. Edison High School. He participated in cross country, wrestling, and track. Even though his cross country and track teams were small Nolan constantly strove to make them and himself better. 
 
“Nolan’s heart and desire to grow as an athlete and man are impressive qualities and epitomize what we look for in recruits,” stated head cross country and assistant track coach Ryan Sommers. “He will surprise many over the next four years. His impact on our programs will be great.”
