Men's Golf Earns Fourth Place Finish In Spring Opener

After sitting alone in second place after day one, the Bethel College men‘s golf team struggled a bit on day two and fell to fourth place at the Indiana Wesleyan Invitational held Friday and Saturday at Meshingomesia Country Club in Marion, IN.

With temperatures hovering in the upper 30‘s and winds gusting to 40 mph, the Pilots battled their way to an impressive opening day score of 311. Seniors Eric Lebold (75) and Jon Bonfiglio (77) led the Pilots on day one, while freshmen Greg Lebold (79) and Jon Enfield (80) rounded out the day one scoring.

Despite better weather on day two, the Pilots struggled at the finish and shot a team score of 315. Lebold again led Bethel, carding a 76, while Bonfiglio and Greg Lebold both added 79.

Lindenwood University, ranked No. 13 in the NAIA‘s latest national poll, was the tournament winner, finishing with a two day total of 588. Eric Lebold finished fourth overall individually with a two day total of 151.

The Pilots next test will be April 8—9 at the USF Invitational, held in Kendallville, IN at the Noblehawk and Cobblestone Golf Courses.
