USF Invitational
Game Summary
The Bethel College men‘s golf team struggled to a sixth place finish at the University of Saint Francis Invitational held at the Bridgewater East Golf Club in Auburn, IN. The Pilots shot a team score of 315 on day one and bettered their score by nine strokes with a second round total of 306 on day two, but still fell to sixth place in the 12 team field.
Senior Eric Lebold continued his steady play, finishing in a tie for fifth place overall, firing scores of 75—74—149. Jon Bonfiglio added a total of 153 by shooting 73 the first day and 78 the second, while Freshmen Jon Enfield and Greg Lebold bounced back on day two with scores of 76 and 78 respectively. “I am very proud of our two seniors Eric Lebold and Jon Bonfiglio,” said Coach Chris Hess. “They are doing everything they can to give us a chance to win. We just need the younger players to step up and play the way we all know they can on a consistent basis. “Our next tournament will be a great test for this team as we try to prepare for the MCC Championship in two weeks. If we play well, the confidence and momentum that go with it could be huge for us in the future.”
Bethel will try to bounce back as they compete in the NAIA Midwest Classic, held at Brickyard Crossing Golf Club on April 13—14. This event features one of the top fields in the nation, with several national ranked teams from across the states. The Pilots then head to Rock Hollow Golf Course for the MCC Championship on April 27—28.
