Men's Soccer Uses Two First Half Goals to Beat Houghton

Game Summary

The Bethel College men’s soccer team continued their dominant play and improved to 6-0-1 on the season with the 3-1 win over Houghton College on Saturday night to conclude the Waterford Estates Fall Classic at Bethel.
 
After both teams were held scoreless through the first thirty minutes of play, the Pilots struck first on a goal Romulo Nobrega at the 34:04 mark assisted by Zach Ganzberg. Bethel struck again less than ten minutes later when Joao Cuato knocked in a shot off the assist from Daniel Moyo. Despite being outshot 11-8, the Pilots took the 2-0 advantage into the locker room.
 
Houghton started the comeback bid with a goal at the 58:46 mark, but Bethel was able to ice the contest on a Daniel Moyo goal assisted by Ryan Needs at the 86:04 mark of the second half.
 
Freshmen goal keeper Cody Troyer came up big in the net as he made 10 saves on the night and despite being outshot 23-17 for the game, the Pilots came away with the victory.
 
The NAIA No. 17 ranked Pilots do not play again until next weekend when they travel to Illinois to take on Trinity Christian College and Trinity International University on Friday and Saturday respectively.
