Game Summary

The No. 12 ranked Bethel College men’s soccer team used a second half goal to take the lead and win their MCC opener against Goshen College on Wednesday night in Mishawaka, Ind.
 
The Pilots took command of the match early as they scored two goals in the first half to take the 2-0 lead into the locker room. Romulo Nobrega began the scoring in the 25th minute off the assist from Martin Ruiz. Tim Jenkinson added to the Pilots’ lead seven minutes later off the assist from Jesse Brenneman to give Bethel the commanding lead.
 
With a two goal lead entering the second half, the Pilots looked to be on their way to victory until Goshen struck quickly with two goals in the first ten minutes of the second half to tie the game at two.
 
The Bethel attack was determined to regain the lead, however, and just two minutes later Martin Ruiz knocked in the deciding goal off an assist from Ryan Needs.
 
The Pilots remain undefeated with a week off until their next match, an MCC contest at Grace College on September 30th at 4:00 pm.
