Game Summary

The Bethel College men’s and women’s tennis teams traveled to North Manchester on Friday afternoon to take on the Manchester College Spartans in a non—conference match. The Bethel men swept past their hosts by the score of 9—0 while the Lady Pilots registered an 8—1 triumph. The men’s record now stands at 2—8 while the women’s team improves to 6—5 for the season.

The men’s match began with singles where Nathan Baker got things started with a solid 6—3, 6—2 win. Five other Pilots followed with straight set victories led by Stephen Ward, Alex Tsikouris, Joe Rallo, Rosten Hamman, and Derrike Kolb. With the team match already secure, the Pilot doubles teams proceeded to sweep all three matches to complete the day’s competition.

“This was a much needed win for our guys,” stated Bethel coach John Natali. “They’ve honestly been playing a lot of good tennis this fall, but the record wouldn’t reflect that fact. So this was a shot in the arm to their confidence which hopefully will carry over to the remainder of the fall season.”

The Bethel men and women will return to action on Monday, October 5th when they will host Huntington University beginning at 1:00pm at Baker Park in Mishawaka.
