Men's Tennis Drops Another 5-4 Match
Game Summary
The Bethel College men’s and women’s tennis teams played host to Huntington University on Monday afternoon in the final MCC contest of the fall. Both teams played hard, but each lost 5—4 heartbreakers to the Foresters. The losses leave the men with a 2—9 record (0—7 MCC) and the women stand at 6—6 overall (2—6 MCC).
The men’s match began with singles where Huntington took two of three matches. Bethel’s number three team of Rosten Hamman and Joe Rallo recorded the Pilot win with an 8—4 decision. Singles action was very tight as the Foresters won at numbers one, three and four, and the Pilots were victorious at numbers two (Stephen Ward), five (Joe Rallo), and six (Rosten Hamman). But it wasn’t enough as Bethel dropped the 5—4 match.
“This was the fourth 5—4 loss this season for the men, which shows just how close they’ve been to the upper half of the conference,” stated Bethel coach John Natali. “As frustrating as this has been, we are still confident that we can compete in every flight at the conference tournament later this week.”
The Bethel men and women will conclude the fall season by playing in the MCC Tournament October 8—10 at Indiana Wesleyan University. Women’s action begins at 9:00am on October 8th while the men will begin at 1:00pm that afternoon.
