Track And Field Earns Three All-Americans At NAIA Indoor Nationals

Game Summary

The Bethel College men’s and women’s track & field program was in action at the NAIA Indoor National Meet in Johnson City, Tennessee and claimed three All—American performances. On the men’s side, Bethel’s J.W. Maierle earned All—American honors by placing third in the long jump with a leap of 23’8”. Meanwhile for the ladies, Ann O’Keefe earned All—American status in the pole vault clearing 11’10”, good for fourth place in the event. And Nichole Arnold likewise was an All—American placing sixth in the shot put with a toss of 44’4.25”.

Other Bethel performances on the men’s side of competition included Trent Chupp in the long jump placing 15th with a leap of 21’11.75”, the Pilot 4x800m relay team of Scott Robinson, Ryan Starkel, Vincent Reel, and Drew Bishop placing 16th nationally with a time of 8:04.12, and Robby Burns in the 60m hurdles placing 26th with a time of 8.72.

For the Bethel women, Caitlyn Gager finished 7th in the pole vault clearing 11’4”, the 4x400m relay team of Jessie Spearman, Lauren Pridgen, Beenne Capre, and Kaila Stevens placed 13th nationally with a time of 4:01.28, and the Lady Pilot 4x800m relay squad of Shelby Morrow, Katie Heisey, Haleigh Sanders, and Irene Kangai finished 17th with a time of 9:51.34. In addition, Danae Ellison placed 19th in the pole vault clearing 10’10”, Kaila Stevens 19th in the 400m run with a time of 1:00.21, Lauren Pridgen 21st in the 400m run with a time of 1:00.78, Amanda Westcott 24th in the long jump with a leap of 16’2”, and Samantha Etter 25th in the 60m dash with a time of 8.07.

The Bethel track teams will kick—off the outdoor season on Saturday, March 21st when they will travel to the Defiance (OH) Invitational.
