Track And Field Wins 22 Events On Way To Sweep Of Goshen Invitational

Game Summary

The Bethel College Track and Field teams swept the Goshen College Invitational on Saturday afternoon at Goshen College while winning eleven events each on the men’s and women’s side respectively. 

The women were led by dual event winners Nichole Arnold and Kaila Stevens. Arnold won the discus at 41.74m and the shot put at 11.94 while Stevens was first in the 400m at 1:00.31 and the 200m at 26.50. Other individual event winners included Caitlyn Gager in the pole vault at 3.05m, Mozy Thiel in the 3K steeplechase at 13:33.03, Leah Schwartz at 1:08.13 in the 400m hurdles, and Danielle Lewis at 20:06.46 in the 5K. The Lady Pilots also swept the relays in the meet with winning times of 10:06.50 in the 4x800, 51.83 in the 4x100m, and 4:07.84 in the 4x400m. Those teams were made up of Shelby Morrow, Haleigh Sanders, Irene Kangai, and Katie Heisey in the 4x800, Kati Beutler, Caitlyn Zahl, Bethany Aldrich, and Sam Etter in the 4x100, and Stevens, Lauren Pridgen, Jessie Spearman, and Beenne Capre in the 4x400. 

The men also won eight individual events along with all three relays on the day. The Pilot individual event winners included Trent Chupp in the long jump at 6.20m, Caleb Jackson in the triple jump at 12.41, William Walker in the high jump at 1.98m, Kyle Klein in the pole vault at 3.96, JJ Jackson in the shot put at 15.08m, Drew Bishop in the javelin at 51.32m, Robby Burns at 15.29 in the 110m hurdles, and Jordan Heim in the 400m at 49.66. The 4x800m relay team of Scott Robinson, Ryan Starkel, Vincent Reel, and Bishop placed first at 8:06.88, as did the 4x100m relay team of Mikal Ryals, Nate Phillips, JW Maierle, and Chupp at 42.97, and the 4x400m relay team of Heim, Phillips, Burns, and Calon Boyd. 

The Pilot Track and Field teams will next compete on Friday, April 3 and Saturday, April 4 at the Purdue University Invitational held in West Lafayette, Indiana.
