Track & Field Performs Well At Purdue Invitational

Game Summary
The Bethel College Track and Field teams had a very impressive showing against mostly NCAA Division I and II competition at the Purdue Invitational this past week end.
The men’s team had seven top eight places on the track, including both relay teams, and seven top eight places in the field events on the day. The 4x100m relay team of BJ Austin, Trent Chupp, Nate Phillips, and Mikal Ryals placed fourth at 42.78 and the 4x400m relay team of Phillips, Jordan Heim, Robby Burns, and Calon Boyd placed third at 3:21.25. Burns also placed fifth in the 110m hurdles at 15.38 and Heim placed eighth in the 400m at 49.09. Other places on the track included distance runners Harrison Fausey placing second in the 10K at 33:25.04, Raymond Duttweiler placing third in the 10K at 35:36.30, and Jared Mead placing seventh in the 3,000m steeple chase at 10:21.71. Pacing the way for the field events were a pair of triple jumpers. Caleb Jackson placed fifth in that event at 41—7.25 and Alex Walsh placed sixth at 41—4. JW Maierle placed fourth in the long jump at 22—6.25. Drew Bishop placed fifth in the javelin at 167’, JJ Jackson placed eighth in the shot put at 49—9.75, and Kyle Klein placed seventh in the pole vault at 15—1.
The women were led also by both relay teams that placed at the meet. The 4x100m relay team of Calyn Zahl, Bethany Aldrich, Sam Etter, and Kati Beutler placed seventh at 51.11, while the 4x400m relay team of Jessica Spearman, Lauren Pridgen, Beenne Capre, and Kaila Stevens placed sixth at 4:02.28. Pacing the field events was Nichole Arnold who had a pair of eighth place finishes in the shot put at 39—11.5 and the discus at 139—1. The discus mark was an NAIA Outdoor National qualifying mark. Amanda Westcott rounded out the places for the Lady Pilots by placing eighth in the triple jump at 34—11.
The Bethel Track and Field team will next compete at Indiana Intercollegiates at Indiana Wesleyan University on Saturday, April 11.
