Women's And Men's Track Take Third And Fourth At Little State Championships

Game Summary
Competing at the 104th annual Little State Championships on Saturday, the Bethel College women’s track team placed third with 103.5 points while the men’s team finished fourth with 89.5 points. The women’s performance included one NAIA qualifying mark, and the men achieved a total of six NAIA qualifying marks.
The Bethel women’s 4x400m relay team of Kaila Stevens, Jessie Spearman, Beenne Capre, and Heather Rathbun finished first with a time of 3:58.09, which was an NAIA qualifying time. Second place finishers included Ann O’Keefe in the pole vault clearing 3.35m, Amanda Westcott in the triple jump with a mark of 10.67m, and Nichole Arnold in the discus with a throw of 41.37m. Third place performances included Stevens in the 400m run with a time of 59.20, April Monaweck in the pole vault clearing 3.20m, Kati Beutler in the long jump with a mark of 5.22m, and the Lady Pilot 4x100m relay team of Samantha Etter, Beutler, Calyn Zahl, and Amy Hausner with a time of 49.95. Fourth place finishers were Spearman in the 400m run with a time of 59.52, Etter in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:08.56, Danae Ellison in the pole vault clearing 3.05m, and Christie Odreman in the javelin with a throw of 33.34m.
The Bethel men were led by two first place efforts – Kyle Klein in the pole vault clearing 4.70m, and JJ Jackson in the shot put with a toss of 16.80 m – both NAIA qualifying marks. Jordan Heim placed third in the 400m run with a time of 48.67, which was also an NAIA qualifying mark. Other third place finishers included Nate Phillips in the 200m dash with a time of 22.30, Vincent Reel in the 800m run with a time of 1:57.31, William Walker in the high jump clearing 1.95m, J.W.Maierle in the long jump with a mark of 6.95m, and Drew Bishop in the javelin with a throw of 51.02m. Fourth place finishers were Robby Burns in the 110m hurdles with a time of 15.17, which was an NAIA qualifying mark, Burns also in the 400m hurdles with a time of 56.02, the Pilot 4x100m relay team of Phillips, BJ Austin, Trent Chupp, and Mikal Ryals with a time of 42.97, and the Bethel 4x400m relay team of Heim, Phillips, Burns, and Brad Wilson with a time of 3:21.30. Placing fifth in the 400m run was Phillips in an NAIA qualifying time of 48.79, and placing sixth in the hammer was Jackson with a toss of 51.12m, also an NAIA qualifying mark.
The Bethel track teams will return to action on Saturday, April 18th when they will take part in the Olivet Nazarene Invitational.
