Game Summary

On Saturday afternoon, the Bethel College men’s and women’s track teams both finished first at the Olivet Nazarene University Invitational. The Pilots men posted 246 points, finishing 88 points in front of second place Olivet Nazarene, and the Lady Pilots ran up 242 points, finishing 134 points ahead of runner—up St. Xavier University.

For the men’s team, Robby Burns placed first in the 100m hurdles with a time of 15.53, and first in the 400m hurdles with a time of 55.87. Other first place finishers for the Pilots were Jordan Heim in the 400m run with a time of 48.80, Jeff Hardman in the javelin with a throw of 186’7”, JW Maierlein the long jump with a mark of 22’10”, Kyle Klein in the pole vault clearing 15’5.5”, William Walker and Diondre Lewis in the high jump, both clearing 6’7.25”,and the Bethel 4x400m relay team of Burns, Arron Patrick, Heim, and Jontae Randolph with a time of 3:21.67.

Second place finishers for the men included Maierle in the 100m hurdles with a time of 17.09, Calen Boyd in the 100m dash with a time of 11.26, Trent Chupp in the 200m dash with a time of 22.68, Patrick in the 400m hurdles with a time of 56.74, Harrison Fausey in the 5000m run with a time of 15:57.20, JJ Jackson in the hammer with a throw of 157’0”, and the Pilot 4x100m relay team of Nate Phillips, Mikal Ryals, Chupp, and BJ Austin with a time of 43.27.

For the women, Nichole Arnold placed first in the shot put with a toss of 43’6”, first in the discus with a toss of 149’10”. Other first place finishers for the Lady Pilots were Amanda Westcott in the triple jump with a mark of 36’4”, Kati Beutler in the long jump with a mark of 17’5”, Ann O’Keefe in the pole vault clearing 11’7”, and the Lady Pilots 4x400m relay team of Heather Rathbun, Beenne Capre, Kaila Stevens, and Irene Kangai with a time of 3:57.00.

Second place finishers for the women included Mozy Thiel in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 12:57.06, Kangai in the 400m run with a time of 59.04, Beutler in the 100m dash with a time of 12.90, Samantha Etter in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:08.96, Nichole Hinton in the javelin with a throw of 107’0”, Arnold in the hammer with a throw of 150’9”, and Emilee Simcox in the high jump clearing 5’1”.

The Bethel track teams will return to action on Friday—Saturday, April 24—25 when they will travel to Taylor University for the 2—day Mid—Central College Conference Meet.
