The Bethel College Track and Field program has announced the signing of three athletes from the Ft. Wayne area for the 2009-2010 season.

Keri Lencke, from Leo High School, is a 400m and 800m runner. Lencke was a state qualifier in the 3200m relay in 2007-08. Her relay team has also been Conference Champions the past two seasons. Lencke won the conference championship in the 800m as well. She led her team to the 2008 ACAC team championship. Lencke’s best time in the 800m is 2:24 and she has a personal best of 1:02 in the 400m. Lencke is a National Honor Society member for three years. Lencke has also been an integral part of the girl’s basketball team while at Leo HS.

The Pilots have also signed Kyle Beutler from Homestead High School. Kyle has personal bests of 0:53 in the 400m, 2:01 in the 800m, and 4:42 in the 1500m. Beutler is a 1st team All Conference selection for the Northeast Hoosier Conference and a three time regional qualifier. Beutler is also a three time varsity letter winner in track. Kyle has also played football during his time at Homestead HS.

The third athlete to join the Pilot Track and Field program is Kayla Lund from Huntington North High School. Lund has personal bests of 110’1” in the discus and 29’4” in the shot put. She was voted as Most Improved in 2008 on her track team.

“I feel like we have signed three very talented and terrific young athletes to our track programs,” says head track and field coach Tony Natali. “All three of these athletes will make an immediate impact in our programs at Bethel. They are tremendous fits for our institution and will work extremely hard to improve on all they have accomplished in their high school careers. We feel very fortunate to have Keri, Kyle, and Kayla as a part of the Bethel College Track family.”
