Track Breaks Three School Records At NAIA Outdoor Nationals
On the first day of competition at the NAIA Outdoor National Track and Field Championships in St. Louis, Missouri, the Bethel College Pilots broke school records in three events while placing a sprinter in Friday’s semifinals.
In the men’s 400m preliminaries, Bethel’s Jordan Heim advanced into Friday’s semifinals by finishing with a time of 47.85, a new Bethel College school record. Meanwhile, in the women’s 4x800m relay, the Lady Pilot team of Irene Kangai, Katie Heisey, Haleigh Sanders, and Shelby Morrow finished 14th in the nation with a Bethel school record time of 9:28.24. And the Bethel women’s 4x100m relay team of Samantha Etter, Aunalee Mustard, Beenne Capre, and Kati Beutler finished 17th in the country with another Bethel school record time of 48.54.
In the women’s pole vault, Bethel’s Ann O’Keefe placed 18th in the nation clearing 10’11.75”, while teammates Caitlyn Gager and April Monaweck finished tied for 19th place also clearing 10’11.75”. And in the men’s 110m hurdles, Robby Burns finished 21st in the country for the Pilots with a time of 15.44.
