Georgia Boisse Signs With Women's Basketball And Track

Georgia Boisse, a two-sport, All-State athlete from Massabesic High School (Maine) has committed to continue her athletic and academic careers for the 2009-2010 season at Bethel College (NAIA) in Mishawaka, IN. She will play for Coach Jody Martinez and the Lady Pilots for basketball and then join Coach Tony Natali and the women’s track and field team at the conclusion of her basketball season.
Despite playing only half the season due to an ACL injury, Georgia was still named to the All-State team for the second year in a row. She was also named to the 1st All-Defensive Team in the State (5 players). She was named MVP of Southern Maine and was one of the finalists for Miss Basketball. During her senior season, Georgia was averaging 21.7 points, 13.4 rebounds, 5.6 assists, and 5.5 steals a game. She averaged 16.7 points, 10.6 rebounds, 7.5 steals, and 5.7 assists a game during her junior year. During her junior year in track, Georgia won the state title in shot put and discus. She finished runner-up in the javelin. She was named the Best Female Athlete for track and field in the Southern Maine Athletic Association. During her sophomore season, Georgia won the state title in discus and finished 3rd in the shot put.
“We are very excited to have someone of Georgia’s caliber joining our track program next season,” states Head Coach Tony Natali. “She will be a great fit in our program and will definitely make an impact right away. Her future is very promising considering her strong work ethic and skill level that she possesses coming into college.”
“Georgia has gone to the state meet each of her three seasons in shot put, discus and javelin,” states Massabesic HS Track Coach Scott Carbone. “She has won the state title in discuss the last two years; has won a state title in the shot put; and finished second in the javelin. I see her future to be very promising. She has tremendous work ethic. She is very coachable and is a leader. Georgia will fit in and will put everything she has into anything she does.”
“Georgia had an outstanding basketball career in high school. She is a great athlete that has great potential to play two sports at Bethel College. She is also an outstanding student and that makes it a good fit for her to become part of the Lady Pilots basketball program,” states Bethel College head coach, Jody Martinez. “She has played different positions at Massabesic and has excellent court awareness. We are blessed to have Georgia join the Lady Pilots family at Bethel College for the 2009 season.”
“Georgia is considered one of the top ten basketball players coming out of the state of Maine,” states Massabesic HS Head Basketball Coach Andy Soldati. “She was voted the most valuable player in our conference. Georgia is a hard working and intelligent player who will make an easy transition to college basketball.”
“I choose Bethel College because of its kind, welcoming atmosphere, based on a Christian education,” states Georgia Boisse. Georgia is also involved with youth group, praise and worship team.
