Emma Dunbar Signs with Lady Pilots
Emma Dunbar, a 5’5 guard from Granger Christian HS, has committed to continue her athletic and academic careers for the 2009-2010 season at Bethel College (NAIA) in Mishawaka, IN. She will play for Coach Jody Martinez and join her older sister Carlie (junior captain) on the Lady Pilots team.
Emma averaged 13 points and 6 assists per game during her senior year for Coach Linda Dunbar. She has earned varsity letters in the following sports: basketball (4 years); soccer (4 years); cross country (2 years) and volleyball (1 year). She has made numerous All-Tournament Teams throughout her high school experience.
"I think that Bethel is going to be a great school for me,” states Emma. “I am excited to play basketball and grow spiritually with all the players and coaching staff. I love the coaching staff. They are so great to all the players. I think that Bethel will be a great place for me spiritually, academically, and athletically. I have a feeling there will be many great memories made at Bethel College.”
“It is a great feeling knowing that not only do I have one daughter playing at Bethel College but to have my two oldest daughters playing together again is just awesome,” states Granger Christian Head Coach, Linda Dunbar. “The coaching staff at Bethel College does a great job of developing players to be more than just basketball players. They are truly concerned about their development in this order: spiritually, academically, and then athletically. I think that Coach Martinez is an outstanding college coach and a great Christian man.”
“I am excited to get another outstanding young lady join our team,” quotes Head Coach Jody Martinez. “Knowing the Dunbar family and the fact that Carlie has already played 2 seasons for me; I know that I am getting a player that will work hard and always do her best on and off the court. Emma will be a great addition to the Lady Pilots. She has very pretty set shot and has a good sense of court awareness. We are blessed to have Emma Dunbar join the Lady Pilot Family at Bethel College for the 2009 season.”
