Bethel College Pilots: 3
MCC Championship
Game Summary
Bethel College Cross Country broke into the postseason today as they joined the other eight Mid—Central Conference schools who gathered at The Plex for a competitive race hosted by St. Francis University. It was a warm day for a November meet and the Bethel Pilots showed up ready to run. While overall, the course race times were not fast (some areas of the course were a bit wet), the competitive spirit was present amidst the conference schools. There were long straights, challenging each runner’s focus, and a section of trails that added variety.
On the women’s side, Freshman Trisha Miller had a very focused, strong race, leading the Lady Pilots to a third place finish with her time of 19:25. Close behind, Senior Amber Wray had a gutsy run, completing in 19:36, with Junior Irene Kangai Kirathi bringing in Bethel’s third with 20:08. Senior Danielle Lewis pulled in a nice 4th finishing time of 20:42 and Freshman Brittany Fabris stepped up in a strong way to round off the BC top five with a time of 21:18. Sophomore Jessica Scott and Senior Ashley Wray also ran steady races for the Pilot Distance squad with times of 21:22 and 21:30 respectively.
Bethel is excited and proud of Trisha Miller and Amber Wray’s performances that qualified them both for the NAIA National Meet that will take place in Vancouver, WA on November 21, 2009!
Coach Storlie commented, “This year’s Seniors have been very strong in leadership and work—ethic and are leaving a great legacy for the Bethel of the future! …Today held a lot of sentiment as they seized the day of their last CC Conference race together! I am really impressed with the people that they are.”
Both the Men’s and Women’s sides gathered for prayer at the completion of their races, reflecting a special unity and perspective that the motivation for their racing would always be to bring glory to God! Next week the Pilots are looking forward to racing the NCCAA meet in Cedarville, OH.
