Franke A Force For Colorado In The USL W-League

Enjoying a stunning run of form in the past few weeks, former Pilot Lisa Franke is making her mark as a forward for the Colorado Force in the United Soccer Leagues W-League.

With four goals in her last five games, Franke has become the leading scorer for the Force as they chase a playoff spot in the USL Western Conference. Her run started on June 21st when she scored both goals in a 2-0 victory over the Los Angeles Legends, which lead to a spot on the USL W-League Team of the Week.

She followed that performance with an outstanding match in an exhibition against the New Jersey/New York Sky Blue FC of the Women’s Professional Soccer League. Playing on the same field as several US National Team players as well as with other international veterans, Franke came within a whisker of a goal as she had a goal bound effort cleared off the line by a Sky Blue defender as the match eventually ended 0-0.

The highlights continued to pile up for Franke as she scored the lone goal in a 1-1 draw with the Seattle Sounders on June 27th, and what a goal it was, coming off of a stunning bicycle kick in the 14th minute.

Franke added another goal over the weekend with the opener in a 2-1 win over the Ventura County Fusion this past Sunday.

“I am very happy for Lisa and what she is doing on the field for the Force,” said Bethel head coach Pete Morey. “She is playing extremely well and really seems to be enjoying herself. I could not be more proud of her and the performances that she is putting up in a tremendously difficult conference of the USL W-League.”

Franke is the most prolific scorer in Bethel history with 92 goals in just 71 career games and is the Pilots’ career leader in goals and points.

Colorado is now 3-2-6 and will wrap up their regular season with a Friday night match at home against the Vancouver Whitecaps.
