Bethel to Hold Blood Drive October 8th
Bethel College will host a community blood drive October 8 from 10:45 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. in Goodman Gymnasium.
Senior Softball Player, Tara Blair, is the coordinator of the event. This past summer she and 14 other National Association of Intercollegiate Athletic (NAIA) athletes interned with the American Red Cross and the NAIA in Washington D.C. While there, Blair created a strategic plan to organize three blood drives on Bethel’s campus as a part of her internship requirements.
This is the first of three blood drives Bethel will host during this school year. Last year, Cameron Branock, a recent graduate and former baseball player, coordinated the blood drives. He collected a total of 325 units of blood.
Blair says the goal this year is to surpass last year’s total with the help of the college and the community.
“People should participate because it is a wonderful opportunity to help save lives of our fellow people. We just never know when and who will need blood and we need to come together to prepare for any situation,” says Blair.
