Women's Tennis Beats Saint Francis (Ill.)
Game Summary
The Bethel College men’s and women’s tennis teams hosted the St. Francis (IL) Saints on Friday afternoon on the Bethel College courts in a non—conference match. The men fell by the score of 9—0, dropping their season record to 1—6. Meanwhile, the Lady Pilots posted a 6—3 victory over the Saints, improving their season mark to 5—3.
The women began play with doubles where the Lady Pilots earned victories in two of the three matches. At number two doubles, Carrie Edison and Brittney Anglin got the team going in the right direction with a well—played 8—4 win. Kristine Hosinski and Jill Focht then followed with an 8—4 win of their own at number three doubles. In singles action, Whitney Neuenschwander and Sarah Cressman registered wins at numbers three and four respectively to give Bethel a 4—1 lead. Brittney Anglin (2 singles) and Julia Horn (5 singles) then sealed the match with wins at their positions.
“This was a nice win for our girls today,” stated Bethel coach, John Natali. “St. Francis is really an improved team over last season, but our ladies played hard at all positions once again today. Carrie and Brittney did a great job at two doubles and Kristine and Jill got the job done as well at three doubles. And then our singles line—up posted wins at four spots to close out the victory.”
The Bethel men and women will be right back in action on Saturday, September 26th when they will host Indiana Wesleyan University at 11:00am at Baker Park in Mishawaka.
