Game Summary

The Bethel College men’s and women’s tennis teams hosted the Indiana Wesleyan University Wildcats on Saturday afternoon in an MCC match—up. In the men’s competition, it was IWU prevailing by the score of 7—2 while the IWU women defeated the Lady Pilots by the score of 9—0. The losses leave the Bethel men at 1—7 for the season (0—5 MCC), and the Bethel ladies drop to 5—4 for the year (2—4 MCC).

The women began play with singles where the Lady Pilots were once again playing short—handed due to several injuries still hampering the team. With that being the case, the IWU women were just too strong for the Lady Pilots to earn a point. Still, the ladies played hard and nearly received a big upset at number one singles where Whitney Neuenschwander dropped a hard—fought match 3—6, 6—7.

“Once again, IWU was just a powerful opponent,” stated Bethel coach, John Natali. “And the injuries we continue to play around didn’t help matters any. Still, all the girls played hard and with good attitudes which will help us down the road.”

The Bethel men and women will return to action on Tuesday, September 29th when they will travel to Marian University to play the Knights beginning at 1:00pm in Indianapolis.
