Game Summary

The Bethel College men’s and women’s tennis teams traveled to North Manchester on Friday afternoon to take on the Manchester College Spartans in a non—conference match. The Bethel men swept past their hosts by the score of 9—0 while the Lady Pilots registered an 8—1 triumph. The men’s record now stands at 2—8 while the women’s team improves to 6—5 for the season.

The women’s match began with doubles action where the Lady Pilots swept all three positions. The number one doubles contest was particularly competitive as Whitney Neuenschwander and Sarah Cressman rallied for an 8—6 win. In singles play, Bethel’s Carrie Edison set the tone by winning at the number one position 6—2, 6—3. Bethel received fine efforts as well from Brittney Anglin, Neuenschwander, Cressman, and Julia Horn to close out the match.

“Our ladies played very well today with good focus at all positions,” stated Bethel coach John Natali. “Our doubles teams got us off to a good start this afternoon. Then in singles play, Carrie played just an excellent match winning in straight sets against a big hitter at number one. And we received good efforts as well from Brittney, Whitney, Sarah, and Julia in their spots.”

The Bethel men and women will return to action on Monday, October 5th when they will host Huntington University beginning at 1:00pm at Baker Park in Mishawaka.
