Women's Tennis Drops 5-4 Match to Huntington
Game Summary
The Bethel College men’s and women’s tennis teams played host to Huntington University on Monday afternoon in the final MCC contest of the fall. Both teams played hard, but each lost 5—4 heartbreakers to the Foresters. The losses leave the men with a 2—9 record (0—7 MCC) and the women stand at 6—6 overall (2—6 MCC).
The women’s match began with doubles action where the Lady Pilots dropped two of three matches. Bethel’s number two team of Carrie Edison and Brittney Anglin continued their winning ways with a 9—8 win. And the Lady Pilots got winning efforts as well in singles from Whitney Neuenschwander, Julia Horn, and Jill Focht. But the rally fell short as Huntington left with the 5—4 triumph.
“Even though our ladies came up a little short today, it was a good effort on everyone’s part,” stated Bethel coach John Natali. “Coach Gingerich and I are just amazed and proud that the girls were able to achieve a 6—6 record this fall with all the adversity our girls have had to endure. The injuries to so many of our players have been incredible, but to the credit of our ladies, they continued to compete with good attitudes. ”
The Bethel men and women will conclude the fall season by playing in the MCC Tournament October 8—10 at Indiana Wesleyan University. Women’s action begins at 9:00am on October 8th while the men will begin at 1:00pm that afternoon.
