Oakwood-Slater Hall

Description:

Eastwood HallHousing mostly freshmen, the legendary Oakwood-Slater Hall has 99 beds situated in 11 three-person and 33 two-person rooms located on its three floors. There are common bathroom facilities on each floor. A study lounge and a TV lounge are each located off the rear staircase. On the basement level, a recreation lounge features foosball, ping-pong and basketball games, along with a TV with DVD player. Laundry facilities include multiple machines, a clothes folding counter, and a soda vending machine.

Resident Director: Bill Bemis

Resident Director Bill BemisRaised in Milwaukee, WI, Bill Bemis has been the Resident Director of Oakwood-Slater Hall since 2001, after working in Campus Safety for one year. Prior to Bethel, Bill was the owner of WBA Architects in Las Vegas, Nev., for 19 years. Bill and his wife Carol were married in 1971. A graduate of University of Notre Dame (1972), Bill has two grown children (both Bethel grads) and six grandchildren. You can contact Bill at bemisb@bethelcollege.edu.


Assistant Resident Director: Josh Hartsell

Assistant Resident Director Josh HartsellAfter graduating from Bethel in 2008 with a degree in Christian Ministries, Josh Hartsell joined Bethel’s staff as Assistant Resident Director of Oakwood-Slater Hall and Assistant Director of the Semester Abroad and Task Force Office. A native of Bluffton, IN, Josh loves to travel and experience new cultures, and he enjoys watching other people get their first taste of traveling. The time Josh has spent among college freshmen has taught him how transformative the first year in college can be. He keeps coming back to Oakwood-Slater because he sees the impact community living has on the guys' spiritual and social growth, and because God has given him a heart for building relationships and gifted him to disciple and mentor those around him.
