Community members have the opportunity to become a certified community health worker (CHW) by attending a three-day training at Bethel College, Sept. 22-24. The deadline to apply is Sept. 1.
The CHW is a frontline public health worker who is a trusted member of the community served. This trusting relationship enables the CHW to serve as a bridge between health/social services and the community to facilitate access to services and improve the quality and cultural competence of service delivery.
Upon completion of the training, participants will be eligible for employment in organizations serving families, the elderly, children and youth, including outpatient medical/behavioral providers, hospitals, medical clinics, schools, churches and community centers.
Participants must be at least 18 years old, be a resident of Indiana and have at least a high school diploma or GED. There is a $35 application fee and tuition is $450. To apply, visit www.chwcrs.org.
