The Genesians had been scheduled to go to Ireland during the school year and had raised some money to go but the trip was canceled. The team still felt that they wanted to minister to people in some way and had the money to use, so they decided to use their time, money and talents to aid the Katrina victims.

Barb Franklin, secretary of theatre arts, contacted area schools systems to get approval to come into the schools and perform. Three different schools gave their approval to come in during their last week of school. They are performing free of charge. "They are so excited that we are coming to perform for them," said Franklin. Brock Fisher is the faculty leader for the trip and the director of the Genesians.
