The Worship Arts major and minor have been added to the courses offered through the department of religion and philosophy. The degrees meet a rising demand within churches for professional leadership at all levels within a worship program. The new programs feature a combination of music, bible, theology, and leadership courses.
The major offers versatility and can be tailored to a student’s area of interest in Biblical study, media arts or theatre. An emphasis will be put on not just ministering through these areas, but on professional skills and development. Courses taught by Bethel faculty, adjuncts and professional Christian leaders, will provide students with a necessary, strong understanding of church administration.
The minor is ideal for a working professional who plays a key role as a worship figure at their local church. It will prepare the individual to handle and address most church needs.
Students from all denominational backgrounds have been considered in the development of this program.
HCM Records is the label for newly formed Bethel College (IN) Publishing. A subsidiary of Bethel College, HCM Records serves the new Worship Arts major. The CD project is part of the larger mission of the program, to help prepare men and women for professional leadership in church worship, Christian music and the creative arts.
ANCHOR IN THE UNDERTOW is the latest CD from HCM Records, featuring various songwriters and artists. The album was produced by Billy Smiley, a five-time Grammy-nominated and 26-time Dove-nominated artist/producer/songwriter based out of Nashville. The songs were recorded at Dark Horse Recording Studios and the Playground Studios in Nashville, Tenn., by Bill Whittington (award winning engineer who has worked with Amy Grant, Vince Gill, Tim McGraw, Faith Hill CeCe Winans, and many others).
