• Bethel Professor Selected for Deaflympics; Raising Money to Participate

  Bethel College Associate Professor of Deaf Studies/Sign Language Interpreting Program Jennifer Kutcka will be one of the 120 elite deaf and hard of hearing athletes to represent the United States in this year’s 22nd Summer Deaflympics in Sofia, Bulgaria from July 26 through Aug. 4. Read more…

• Bethel Hosts Summer of Service Student Weekend

  Bethel College will host the SOS (Summer of Service) student weekend for incoming 6th graders to graduating seniors, providing them access to campus facilities. Roughly 500 teenagers and volunteers from 28 local church youth groups will participate in the four-day, three-night, service-oriented event from June 13 to 16. Read more…

• Bethel College 2013-2014 Theater Season Tickets Now Available

  The Bethel College department of theatre has announced the 2013-2014 theater season productions. Season tickets are now available at $45 for adults; $40 for seniors and students. Read more…

• Bethel Encourages Kids to "Jump In" to Academic Camps

  Bethel will offer its annual Academic Camps, which provide campers from ages 7-17 with the opportunity to explore the vast world of academics. Taught by Bethel professors, along with students and staff, the camps will run during the months of June and July. The cost per camper is $125. Read more…

• Concert Choir to Tour the Midwest

  Nearly 50 Bethel College students from Concert Choir will tour churches throughout the Midwest from May 6-12. Directed by Associate Professor of Music Robert Ham and accompanied by Marilynn Ham, the Concert Choir will perform a variety of music relating to this year’s theme, “Agnus Dei,” (Lamb of God). The program will also feature Bethel’s a cappella group, Voices Of Triumph. Read more…

• Bethel Hosts "Summer Institute" for Teachers

  Bethel College will offer “Summer Institute for Teachers” on June 10, 11 and 12 in the Miller-Moore Academic Center, Room AC 342. Those participating in the three-day learning experience can earn up to 18 professional growth points (PGPs) or three graduate credits. Registration will be limited to the first 125 participants per session. Read more…

• Bethel Athletes Coordinate Walk for Boston

  Bethel College will host a fundraiser to benefit victims of the Boston Marathon bombing. The Walk for Boston will begin at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, April 30 at the Bethel College outdoor track and will end Wednesday, May 1 with a closing ceremony at 12 p.m. noon. Read more…

• Bethel College Commencement Planned for First Weekend in May

  This year, 582 students plan to participate in Bethel’s two commencement ceremonies. Commencement for nontraditional programs, organizational management, Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) and Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN) completion will take place on Saturday, May 4 at 2:30 p.m. Traditional undergraduate and graduate programs commencement will be held on Sunday, May 5 at 2:30 p.m. Both ceremonies will take place in the Wiekamp Athletic Center. Bethel College Senior Vice President Dennis Engbrecht, Ph.D., will speak at the nontraditional student ceremony on May 4 and the Rev. William Hossler, president of the Missionary Church, will speak at the traditional and graduate student ceremony on May 5. Read more…

• Bethel Presents Annual Choral Showcase with Two Special Guests

  Bethel College will present its annual end-of-the-year choral showcase featuring Music Ministry Teams, The Collegians, Voices Of Triumph, Concert Choir and two special guests — Bethel’s President Steven R. Cramer, Ph.D., (’75) and the hand bell choir from St. Paul’s Retirement Community. • Bethel Announces New President

  On behalf of the Bethel College board of trustees, Chair Brian L. Hamil announced Gregg Chenoweth, Ph.D., as the seventh president of Bethel College. The presidential search committee voted unanimously last month, selecting Chenoweth as the finalist. On Saturday, April 6, the Bethel board of trustees unanimously voted to appoint Chenoweth. The general oversight committee of the Missionary Church denomination approved the appointment yesterday, April 8. Read more…

  Students from Indiana’s private, nonprofit colleges and universities, including Bethel College, want to deliver three messages in person at the Statehouse on Tuesday, April 9: Sincere thanks for the legislators’ ongoing commitment to state need-based financial aid for students; the urgent need for their continued support of this program; and the critical importance of increasing the number of Hoosiers with bachelor’s degrees to Indiana’s economy. • Bethel College Alumni Plan Recital in Honor of Music Professor

  Several Bethel College alumni will hold a recital in honor of Associate Professor of Music and Artist-in-Residence Victoria Garrett on Saturday, April 13, at 7 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 410 Lincoln Way East, Mishawaka, Ind. • Weaver Gallery Hosts the Biggest Art Show of the Year

  The Bethel College Weaver Gallery is proud to host the 2013 senior thesis shows. The opening reception is on Friday, April 5 from 5-7 p.m. and will feature the work of 10 seniors: Hannah Beamer, Desiree Delgado, Kayla DiGirolamo, Evan Giles, Michelle Hines, NaRa Lee, Lindsay Marks, Caitlyn Ramirez, Samantha Ratner and Brandon Vance. • Bethel to Host Faculty Spring Colloquia Lecture Series

  Bethel will host the second spring faculty colloquium lecture series called “Does War Work? Thinking About Conflict in the 21st Century” on Thursday, April 4 at 3:30 p.m. in the Academic Center, Room 342. John H. Haas, Ph.D., associate faculty in history, will discuss the nation's recent wars, whether they have achieved what Americans hoped from them, why or why not, and what they may have to teach us about war in the future. • 7th Graders Become College Students for a Day

  Students from Jefferson Intermediate School will experience “college for a day” at Bethel College. Half the 7th grade class will visit on Wednesday, March 20, and the rest will visit on March 21. “College for a day” is a unique experience sponsored by Ivy Tech, the University of Notre Dame, Indiana University South Bend and Bethel College where middle school students can see firsthand the opportunities that college has to offer.   Bethel’s Vice President for Life Calling and Student Enrichment Kathy Gribbin, Ph.D., passed away Feb. 6 at Hospice in South Bend after a three-year battle with cancer. She was 59 years old. Read more…
