Former Bethel College President, James Bennett, Dies at age 78

Bethel’s fourth president (1982-1988), the Rev. James “Jim” A. Bennett, Ph.D., of Elkhart, Ind., passed away yesterday afternoon, Oct. 8, after years of declining health. He was 78 years old. Visitation will be held Monday, Oct. 12 in the Weaver Rotunda of the Everest-Rohrer Chapel/Fine Arts Center from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 13 in the Everest-Rohrer Chapel/Fine Arts Center – Auditorium on Bethel’s campus.

Michiana Down Syndrome to Hold Festival/Walk at Bethel College

Michiana Down Syndrome (MDS) will be hosting its annual walk and festival at Bethel College on Oct. 10, 2015. The doors will open for registration in the Wiekamp Athletic Center at 9:30 a.m., where participants can enjoy a silent auction, games, raffles, vendor tables, door prizes, and professional face painting, before the walk begins at 12:30 p.m.

Pam Austin ’11, ’14, came to Bethel College in 2009 as an adult student to take just one speech class and ended up pursuing her bachelor’s degree. Currently a vice president at First Source Bank, Austin went on to complete her MBA from Bethel in 2014.
